The 36 Days of Type design challenge is an annual community event where designers create a unique letter of the alphabet and numbers 0-9 each day, for 36 days.

For this year's challenge, I saw an opportunity to expand on the ornate crests I often design for wedding invitations and decided to explore the historical shapes and intricate ornamentation of Baroque and Rococo decoration.

Each crest was hand-drawn in Procreate, inspired by and translated from historical frames into wood-carved styles. I paired each frame with Baroque typography in various letter styles to create a cohesive yet diverse collection.

As the challenge progressed, it was fascinating to see how the designs evolved, becoming more ornate and detailed as I leaned further into the challenge and pushed the boundaries of the ornamentation.
